Your stated learning goals, level, format preference, language preference, and time-commitment preference, entered when building a learning path.
The text of your learning goal itself, which is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate your personalized path.

Information generated as you use the site:

The learning paths you create (your goal, the books/videos/articles/courses selected for you, and their sequence).
Your progress on each path (which items you've marked as complete).
Your subscription status (free or premium) and, if you subscribe, billing information handled by our payment provider.

Information we do NOT collect:

We do not directly collect or store your full payment card details. Payment processing is handled entirely by our payment provider, Paddle, who has its own privacy policy governing that information.

3. How we use your information

To create and maintain your account.
To generate your personalized, sequenced learning paths using AI.
To track and display your progress.
To process payments and manage your Premium subscription (via our payment provider, Paddle).
To communicate with you about your account (e.g., password reset emails).
To monitor and fix technical errors, and understand general site usage.

We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

5. Cookies and local storage

We use your browser's local storage (not tracking cookies) to keep you logged in between visits, via our authentication provider. This is necessary for the site to function and isn't used for advertising or tracking you across other websites. Our analytics provider, Umami, does not use cookies at all.

6. International data transfers

Because we use services located in different countries (including India, the United States, Ireland, and the United Kingdom, as listed above), your information may be processed on servers located outside your own country. By using the site, you consent to this transfer.

7. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a portable copy of the personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights:

Account deletion is currently handled manually — email us using the link above, since a self-service deletion option isn't built into the site yet. We will respond within one month.

8. Data retention

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion, we will remove your personal data within a reasonable time, except where we're required to keep certain records (e.g., payment records) for legal or accounting reasons.

9. Children's privacy

Bayt Al-Hikma is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at mahdihalawi430@gmail.com and we will delete it.

10. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information (e.g., encrypted password storage, HTTPS). However, no online service can guarantee absolute security, and we cannot promise your information will never be accessed by an unauthorized party.
